A Dictionary of Dress Sizes

Hello,

and thanks for visiting A Dictionary of Dress Sizes.  Time is slippery as school days again take hold and the holidays begin a slow sneak up on us.  We hope you'll take a few minutes to join in the dialogue of women who are taking a closer look at the ideas we hold around beauty and body image by answering our questionnaire. 

If you're joining us again, welcome back!  We've just uploaded a new round of questions.  Each set of these questions on body image brings up another chance to take a closer look at how we think about and live inside our bodies.  I'm very grateful for your participation in this project and look forward to hearing from you.

Remember, you can participate anonymously or leave us your contact information at the end of the questionnaire.  Be sure to hit the submit button after you've answered the questions so they'll log into our system. 

I'm excited to report the first draft of the book is complete and there is editing in the house!  We will be fine-tuning the pieces for the book over the next couple of months and hope to bring it to completion by the end of the year.  We are certainly still collecting answers for this web project, so add your voice to the mix today.

It's that time again...summer vacations, class reunions, camp.  Time for swimsuits and watermelon, lakefronts and beach cottages. Welcome to A Dictionary of Dress Sizes, we hope you'll take a moment out of the sun to answer our questionnaire on body image and beauty issues.   

We'll be changing the questions again mid-month and remember, you are invited to participate with us more than once.  Each set of questions brings forward new opportunities to think about how you perceive your body and how you move through the world.  Each set of questions brings forward a new opportunity to share your story with us.

The book is really coming along.  I will have a completed first draft by mid-August and I'm very proud and so grateful to each of you who are participating.  So come on and join in on the fun and remember, answers to the questionnaire will soon be posted on this site and in the book.  You have the option to remain anonymous or leave us with your name and contact information.  Answers will be posted on the site anonymously and in the book under pseudonyms, so you can tell us the truth, whole truth and what really happens in the dressing room.

Summer brings us more in touch with our bodies.  And participating in A Dictionary of Dress Sizes brings us more in touch with how we feel about ourselves.  Join the dialogue today.

Hello and thanks for stopping by A Dictionary of Dress Sizes,

A lot has been happening around here behind the scenes!  I've been making wild progress with the book aspect of this project.  Thanks in large part to your answers to this questionnaire it's all coming along swimmingly.  I'm proud to report I will be reading an excerpt from the manuscript this weekend for students and faculty at the University of Santa Monica.

I remain, each and every day, in awe of your bravery and your beauty as you show up so honestly with your answers to the questionnaire.  Look for posts of selected answers in the coming month.  Please understand that I receive many sets of answers and it isn't possible at this time to post them all.  Know that I read each and every set of answers personally.  My intention is to post as wide a variety of these answers as I can. Keep in mind, many answers are also being held in reserve for the book.

It's great to report that I'll be posting the third set of questions as well in the coming month. Remember, it's okay to participate in the project more than once. Each new set of answers is fair game.

We hope you'll fill out the questionnaire and join the many voices of women who are creating new awareness and carving out a new path of understanding about body image.

I so appreciate each of your honesty and candor.  Some of us have had issues around body image for most or all of our lives.  Some of us love our bodies, have always loved our bodies and celebrate their every move each day. 

Where ever you may find yourself along the spectrum of experience, I hope you'll fill out our questionnaire on body image and add your answers to our forum.  Every woman is different, every body is different, every answer is different.  All are important to me.  Each voice is a part of the symphony.

I'm thrilled to report our site is live and has been steadily receiving replies to the questionnaire! 

Thank each and every one of you for telling your stories so bravely and honestly.  Your words have truly inspired me and I so look forward to sharing some of them on the site on The Answers page (coming soon).

Please help me spread the word about A Dictionary of Dress Sizes. Each woman who answers the questionnaire enhances the dialogue we are building between us.  Each individual heartfelt answer to each question is a bridge. Every single answer builds this project. Thank you for your support!

If you haven't yet answered the questionnaire, I encourage you to do so.  For me it was an eye-opening look into ideas I didn't even know I was holding on to.  Some of these ideas I found I wanted to change, some of them I felt great about.  In any case, you can rest assured that by answering this questionnaire you are creating a new energy of awareness around your body image and that the peace you may feel inside when you finish answering the questions will have the opportunity to blossom for others as well. 

A Dictionary of Dress Sizes is a forum.  Every voice counts, and every voice is heard.  I personally read each and every answer to every question that's posted and I appreciate your truth more than you could know.
